Letters to Alan

Dear Alan12 September 2026

The first time I saw you was when I watched Harry Potter for the first time, when I was around eleven or twelve years old. I was immediately fascinated by the way you portrayed Professor Snape. There was something about your presence, your expressions, and the depth you brought to the character that stayed with me. I was captivated, and I found myself watching the films again and again. As I grew older, I discovered more of your work. I watched Die Hard, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Sense and Sensibility, and many of your other films. With every role, I became more impressed by the incredible presence you had on screen and by the way you could make every character feel so distinctive and memorable. But it was not only your acting that fascinated me. Your voice was something truly special to me as well. There was a warmth, depth, and unmistakable quality to it that made simply listening to you a memorable experience. Sadly, I never had the chance to meet you in person. When I turned eighteen, you had already left this world. Hearing the news was heartbreaking, and for a while, it felt as though something inside me had fallen apart. Even though I never had the opportunity to tell you personally what your work meant to me, I hope that, somehow, these words can express a little of what I have carried in my heart for so many years. You will always have a special place in my heart. You are not only an actor I deeply admire, but also someone who inspired me through your talent, your presence, and the unforgettable characters you brought to life. Although you are no longer here, your work remains. Your films, your voice, your characters, and the memories you created for so many people will continue to live on. You will always be an inspiration to me and, in my own way, I will always carry your memory with me. Thank you, Alan, for everything you gave to the world. You are deeply missed, but you will never be forgotten. With all my admiration, M.K
