The Petition
Release Alan Rickman’s archival theatre performances for public viewing.
Long before Hans Gruber, before Snape, Alan Rickman was a stage actor, trained at RADA, built through the Royal Shakespeare Company, and known to theatregoers years before most of the world knew his face. He returned to the stage throughout his life, in London, on Broadway, in productions many of us never had the chance to see.
Some of those performances exist in archival recordings, kept by theatres and archives, but not made available for the public to watch. This petition asks the organisations holding that footage to consider releasing it, so that his theatre work isn’t left inaccessible to the fans who would treasure it.
This letters project grew out of that same petition. If you have five minutes, adding your name helps keep the request visible.
