Dear Alan, I'm writing this letter simply to remind you of the indelible impact you left on the world. There are actors who merely play roles, and then there was you: someone capable of filling an entire screen with a single glance, a perfect pause, or that unmistakable voice that could freeze the air or convey devastating tenderness in a matter of seconds. You gave us villains that were impossible not to love, like Hans Gruber or the Sheriff of Nottingham, and characters with such complex humanity as Colonel Brandon or Alexander Dane. But, of course, for millions of people, you will always be the man who taught us the true meaning of loyalty and love in the shadows as Severus Snape. You managed to transform a feared character into one of the purest hearts in literature and film, making us understand that appearances are nothing compared to character. Thank you for your dedication to the art, for your elegance, for your subtle sense of humor, and for treating every performance with absolute respect for the audience. We miss you dearly, but the truth is you never really left us: you live on every time we rewatch your films, every time we hear your voice, and every time someone asks, "After all this time?" and the world answers, "Always." With immense love and admiration, An eternal admirer.
Helen ♡
