Dear Alan, When I was 12 years old I went through a very dark time in my life. It got so bad I almost had to end it. At one point, the only thing keeping me sane was watching movies. One day I watched the Harry Potter movies(not for the first time) and I saw your performance more clearly. I felt a certain connection to it. 2 years later I started watching all of your movies. I needed to focus on something that would give me a certain calmness. It slowly became a passion and a hobby. I'd come back from school and watch a new movie that you were in. You became my favorite actor. The person I looked up to and hoped that one day I could be as kind and mature as. When I watched Truly Madly Deeply, something in me changed. I started understanding and viewing the world differently. I started to not take things for granted. I noticed how perceptive I became ever since watching that movie. This movie is now even sadder due to the fact I'll never get to meet you. I don't usually say never, but unfortunately... I'll never get the chance to. I read your diaries. The first book I ever read. And in a secondary language for me. I'll never forget reading it. I even got extremely happy when I say an entry on my birthday. Ever since then I grew to love English and to push myself into perfecting my skills on this particular language just so I could understand you more. My dream is to visit London and see your memorial bench from up close. I've been saving up since I was 13. Im almost 16 now. I wish I could meet you. I hope that one day I can. Thank you for making me feel understood. For helping me not end my journey as a human being. For making me laugh, cry, and feel seen. With lots of love and admiration, P.T.
