Dear Alan, I was actually fortunate enough to briefly meet you many years ago. I will never forget how you smiled after me after I rambled on about how long I’d been a fan. I know I must’ve just been another starstruck young woman with a crush on you out of many I’m sure you’d met, but that moment meant so much to me. To this day, it’s still one of my favourite memories. In the years since, and especially since you passed, I wish I’d been able to articulate more just how much I appreciate and adore you - as an actor and as a person. I so respect the dedication you had to your craft, and wish I could have had the opportunity to discuss your creative genius more. I also wish I could have told you how your movies and characters have become a safe space for me when I am not at my best. Your work is living on so thoroughly in the hearts of your fans, but I selfishly wish we got more. I miss you greatly and every time I remember there is a finite number of your performances and interviews left for me to watch it breaks my heart. Thank you for sharing your talent, gift and little bits of yourself with us through your work. Your aura and presence were unmatched. I truly believe you were one of a kind and we’ll never see someone quite like you ever again. Wherever you are, however your soul has moved on in the last decade, I hope you know how many of us you impacted. We still miss and love you. All my love,
Delilah
